Anthracite Filter Media

Anthracite Filter Media (anthracite filter media) is a filter material for removing turbidity and SS. Since it has a lower density than filtered sand and is stratified on the upper layer of filtered sand after backwashing to form a reverse particle size structure, it is often used as multi-layer filtration in combination with filtered sand. In addition, since the product contains a large amount of carbon, it is resistant to various chemicals and has high physical strength, so it is widely used for water purification and water treatment.

Large voids and large turbidity capture

In [single-layer filtration], which filters only with filtered sand, fine sand particles are stratified in the upper layer, so turbidity is mainly captured in [surface filtration] near the surface layer, and a large amount of turbidity capture cannot be obtained. Hmm. Anthracite has a lower density than filtered sand and is stratified on the upper layer of filtered sand even with a large particle size. Therefore, by combining it with filtered sand, the amount of turbidity captured is increased as an ideal [multi-layer filtration]. It can be used and is widely used in water purification plants nationwide.

In addition, since the shape of anthracite is rich in ridge angle, the voids are large and the specific surface area is large, so that the entire filter layer can be effectively used [deep filtration], and the thickness of the filter layer is increased with a single layer [anthrasite]. After injecting the coagulant, even the water to be treated, which is sent to the filtration layer without being sufficiently agitated, undergoes the agitation effect while passing through the various voids of the anthracite, and good microfloc can be generated. This leads to improvement of treated water quality.

Easy to change from a single-layer filtration pond

The method of cleaning anthracite is the same as that of filtered sand. In other words, there is no need to add a new cleaning device when changing from an existing filtration pond with a single layer of filtered sand to a multi-layer that uses anthracite. It is possible to improve the filtration performance by simply removing a part of the filtered sand from the filtration pond and replenishing the anthracite.
