SMF Cassette Type

The demand for advanced water treatment continues to grow, and recent membrane filtration technology has enabled purification levels unattainable with sand filtration.
However, while membrane filtration is well-suited for advanced treatment, it has weaknesses under high loads.
Therefore, to effectively utilize membranes, the key component in advanced treatment, we have developed an ultra-precision membrane (SMF) cartridge capable of air cleaning and resistant to high loads.

Features

Delivers superior cleaning capability through combined water and air use

Clear water permeate flux: 16.6 m³/(m²・d), 0.2 MPa, 25℃

Achieves high flux through specialized membrane manufacturing

Effective removal of turbidity achieved via bubbling and permeate backwashing

Capable of removing Cryptosporidium and Legionella

SMF-PVDF, with a nominal pore size of 0.05 μm, can remove Cryptosporidium and Giardia, major threats to drinking water, as well as Legionella, a significant concern for hot spring facilities and cooling towers.

Applications

● Turbidity removal & infection control for water supply and drinking water facilities
● Circulation filtration for hot spring baths & swimming pools
● Pre-treatment for RO membrane systems
● Sterile seawater production* (for seafood processing)
*Pre-treatment may be required in some cases.

Filtration process

Treated water is obtained as raw water permeates from the outside to the inside of the hollow fibers (external pressure full-flow filtration system).

Cleaning Process

After removing surface contaminants from the membrane via air bubbling, the treated water is backflushed through the pores to flush away any remaining contaminants.

Standard Cleaning Method

* The filtration and cleaning methods described above are our recommended methods.
Please note that these may vary depending on the characteristics of the source water. For details, please contact our sales representative.

Product Specifications

*1 Calculated based on the filtration water volume of the test module at a supply pressure of 0.2 MPa and water temperature of 25℃.
*2 The filtration flow rate varies depending on operating conditions such as raw water quality, water temperature, supply pressure, and backwash conditions. This value is a guideline. Please consult our sales representative during the design phase. Note that conducting membrane filtration tests using actual raw water allows for determining precise design filtration flow rates, backwash conditions, and other operating
parameters. Membrane filtration tests are available for a fee.
*3 This refers to seawater after pretreatment such as sand filtration.

Cassette Connection Method

By connecting cassettes in series or parallel, you can build a system capable of handling various filtration water volumes.

Series Connection Block

Parallel Connection Block

*1 Please limit the number of connected cassettes to a maximum of 3 in series and 2 in parallel (6 cassettes total).
*2 The filtration capacity varies depending on operating conditions such as raw water quality, water temperature, supply pressure, and backwash conditions. This value is a guideline. Please consult our sales representative during design. Note: Conducting membrane filtration tests using actual raw water allows for determining precise design filtration capacity, backwash conditions, and other operating parameters. Membrane filtration tests are available for a fee.
*3 This refers to seawater after pretreatment such as sand filtration. *For large capacities, use multiple blocks configured as [Series × Parallel = 3 columns × 2 rows = 6 cassettes] per block unit. *When ordering, please consult with our sales representative regarding cassette model, arrangement, and operating conditions. *TS fittings are required for connection to parallel joints. *Accessories for [Series/Parallel] configurations will be included based on the number and arrangement of cassettes.
