Activated Carbon
Activated carbon is broadly categorized as plant-based or mineral-based depending on its manufacturing raw materials. The KEMY CARBON TA-30 series activated carbon for water treatment undergoes product management through inspections compliant with JWWA A 114:2006 or JIS K1474:2014. We can also manufacture higher-grade activated carbon tailored to your specifications. Please consult us.
Features
Coal-Based (Mineral) Activated Carbon TA-30C
This activated carbon is made from coal. It features well-developed macropores with large pore diameters, making it suitable for removing relatively large-molecular-weight organic compounds such as geosmin, a substance causing musty odor and moldy odor-and humic substances, which are trihalomethane precursors. It is also used in bioactivated carbon treatment, where microorganisms are supported on
the activated carbon.
Coconut-Based (Plant) Activated Carbon TA-30N
This activated carbon is made from coconut shells. It features highly developed micropores with small pore diameters, making it suitable for removing relatively low-molecular-weight organic compounds such as 2-MIB and trihalomethanes, which cause musty smells. Additionally, compared to coal-based activated carbon, it has a larger specific surface area and higher hardness, making it also used for removing free residual chlorine.
Applications
Coal-Based (Mineral) Activated Carbon TA-30C
● Biological activated carbon (BAC) treatment, a type of advanced water purification
● Decolorization treatment for groundwater and other sources containing humic substances and color
● Removal of organic matter from groundwater and river water
● Color removal
● Removal of COD from wastewater
Coconut-Based (Plant) Activated Carbon TA-30N
● Removal of free residual chlorine
● Removal of trihalomethanes
● Removal of moldy odor components (especially 2-MIB)
